Learning has never been so easy!
On opening a database that references Microsoft's ActiveX Calendar Control file (mscal.ocx) in Microsoft Access 2010, the following error message is displayed:
'Your Microsoft Access database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file 'MSCAL.OCX' version 7.0'
Clicking on the 'OK' button allows the database to open, however subsequent navigation to other forms also invokes the same error message.

- Macebytesnake Jul 20, 2012 at 07:45amFinally, good work. ;-)
Thanks for this. - AnaheimMike4120 Nov 8, 2012 at 09:55amI tore my hair out trying to figure this one out when Office 2010 first dropped :)I had to do this for a lot of users and found it worthwhile creating a batch file to copy the MSCAL.ocx file from a network folder and register it in one step.
- Pimientojohn.weidner.90 Mar 12, 2013 at 08:24pmI had a similar problem with mscal.ocx.
Failed steps:
1) re-registering using regsvr32
2) finding source using procmonI next ran a compiled exe which references this OCX. I went to the page containing the calendar control and clicked on it. Bam--it popped up 'msstdfmt.dll required.' I registered this DLL using regsvr32 msstdfmt.dll and all was good. - Poblanoppestana Jan 8, 2014 at 05:21pmThese instructions work if one opens CMD as administrator. Otherwise, one will get error 0x8002801c.
- ChipotleSeth Fox Apr 10, 2014 at 04:09pmThis worked perfectly! Thanks for the write up. I also did get the error, but when I ran as admin everything was fine.
- AnaheimRowan Gill May 18, 2018 at 09:43amI did this for one of my users who was experiencing an issue with Access 2016. It looks like the Calendar Control wasn't installed so a run-time error would appear. Worked like a charm!! Thank you!
- Pimientojasonallen10 May 23, 2018 at 06:15amI don't have office12 directory on the working computer. However I do have this file in the program files(x86)MicrosoftOffice11 directory where Office 2013 (Windows 7) is installed and working. Can I copy this file over to the Windows 10 computer running office 365? It's the Windows 10 computer running access 365 has this error.

Although the Calendar Control 11.0 is referenced in the SysWow64 root, I receive an error message stating there is no control available. And the Class MSCAL.Calendar.7 cannot be run when I attempt to edit or run the form.
What can I do to resolve this issue.
